The Bennetts

Congratulations to Luther & Macie Bennett, who are the recipients of the Historical Home Award. This house was built in 1919 by Dixie Royal, Sr. Over the years only five families have owned this house.

Luther and Macie purchased this 13 room, two story Victorian Farm House in December of 1980. They moved into their home in January of 1981 and not only made this their home but a safe haven for their family. We invite you to join us on Monday, June 10th at 7:00 pm so you can learn more about the history and the interesting stories involved around building this house. You will also  see some of the pictures of the beautiful design that went into the building of the house.

The Vanderhoofs

East Lake Historical Society's Second Historical Home Award

was awarded to the Vanderhoof Family for the the Log Cabin located in Mount Plymouth

The Fransbergens

East Lake Historical Society's First Historical Home Award

was awarded to the Fransbergen Family for the Old Rainey House located in Sorrento

Their house was built by William Hawkins in 1886.  Much of the house was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1903.   The original roof was made of wood shingles so after the fire they built a new roof over the original one.

The old “George Rainey” plaque still hangs on the front door.

The Fransbergens did a lot of renovation, taking care to preserve the original windows, paneling, floors, crown molding, cabinets and much more before they moved into their beautiful home in 2009.

As you sit on their front porch you look out across the front yard and  across the street to Lake Lucy, which at one time was much larger.
